Complete Warehouse Racking Solutions

Efficient warehouse operations begin with the right racking system. At Midwest Material Handling, we supply new and used warehouse racking systems throughout Ohio designed to improve storage density, streamline workflow, and deliver long term reliability. From high volume distribution centers to manufacturing and industrial storage facilities, our team helps businesses select the right solution for their space, inventory profile, and operational goals. Our storage systems include Selective Pallet Rack, Cantilever Racking, Structural Pallet Rack, Drive In and Pushback Racking, and Flow Rack Systems, all supported by expert layout planning and professional installation.

Warehouse racking is not one-size-fits-all. Different products, load weights, and access requirements demand different systems. As a full-service material handling supplier, we provide practical guidance and proven storage solutions based on how your operation actually runs, not just what fits on paper.

We stock both new and used warehouse racking, allowing customers to balance performance and cost while maintaining safety and compliance. Whether you are expanding an existing warehouse or building out a new facility, our team helps you select the right system from the start.

The sections below provide a brief overview of the primary warehouse racking systems we supply and install. Select any system to learn more about its applications and advantages.

Pallet Racking

Selective Pallet Racking Systems

Pallet rack systems are the most common form of warehouse racking and are used to store palletized loads with forklift access. These systems are ideal for facilities that require flexibility, selectivity, and straightforward inventory management.

Selective pallet rack allows direct access to every pallet position, making it a practical choice for operations with a wide variety of SKUs. Structural pallet rack options are also available for higher-capacity loads and more demanding environments.

New and used pallet rack systems are available in a wide range of sizes, configurations, and load capacities to support diverse warehouse requirements. For a closer look at pallet rack styles, configurations, and system components, explore our pallet rack systems overview.

Cantilever Racking

Cantilever Racking Systems (for Long & Bulky Materials)

Cantilever racking is designed for materials that are difficult or inefficient to store on traditional pallet rack systems. In Ohio warehouses, this commonly includes long or bulky items such as lumber, pipe, tubing, steel, and furniture.

Because cantilever racks use open arms without front columns, materials can be loaded and unloaded easily without obstruction. Systems are available in single-sided and double-sided designs and can be configured based on material length, weight, and handling requirements.

Cantilever racking is widely used across Ohio in manufacturing, building materials, and industrial storage environments where access and flexibility are essential.

Structural Racking system in ohio warehouse

Structural Racking Systems

Structural rack systems are often selected when Ohio facilities need added strength and durability beyond standard roll-formed pallet rack. Midwest Material Handling, LLC supplies new and used structural rack systems statewide for warehouses operating in high-traffic or demanding conditions.

Built from hot-rolled structural steel, these systems use thicker components and bolted connections to create a rigid, impact-resistant structure. This construction helps reduce damage from daily forklift activity while supporting heavier pallet loads over time.

Structural rack systems are often incorporated into drive-in, pushback, and high-density storage designs depending on facility requirements.

Steel Stacking Racks

Stack Rack Systems

Stack rack systems provide flexible, portable storage for operations that need temporary, seasonal, or overflow capacity. Unlike fixed pallet racking, stack racks can be moved, stacked, and stored when not in use, making them ideal for facilities that experience fluctuating inventory levels.

These systems are commonly used for bulky items, irregular loads, tire storage, and work in process inventory across Ohio warehouses and manufacturing environments.

Drive in pallet racking

Drive-In, Drive Through & Pushback Racking Systems

When Ohio warehouses need to maximize storage density, high-density racking systems such as drive-in and pushback racking offer efficient use of available floor space while reducing aisle requirements.

Drive-in racking allows forklifts to enter the rack structure and store pallets several positions deep. This system works well for Ohio operations storing large volumes of similar products, particularly in cold storage or bulk storage environments.

Pushback racking stores pallets multiple positions deep on inclined rails and loads from a single aisle. This design provides higher density with faster access and improved selectivity compared to traditional drive-in systems.

Gravity carton Flow Racking in Ohio warehouse

Flow Rack Systems

Flow rack systems are designed for operations that require higher storage density and controlled first in first out inventory rotation. Commonly used in distribution centers and manufacturing environments across Ohio, pallet flow rack and carton flow rack systems use gravity-driven lanes to move product efficiently from load side to pick face.

Flow rack can be integrated into selective pallet rack structures or engineered as standalone systems depending on lane depth, load weight, and throughput requirements. These systems are ideal for high velocity inventory and facilities that prioritize efficiency and product rotation.

New & Used Warehouse Racking Options

Choosing between new and used warehouse racking often comes down to budget, lead time, and availability. We offer both options so customers can make the decision that best fits their project.

Used pallet rack inventory is fully inspected and graded for reuse, providing a reliable and cost-effective solution for many applications. New racking offers maximum flexibility for custom layouts and long-term expansion plans.

Our team can help evaluate which option makes the most sense based on your storage requirements and timeline.

Freight Coordination and Delivery

Freight and delivery are an important part of any pallet racking project. Uprights, beams, wire decking, and complete rack systems ship through local cartage, LTL freight carriers, and full truckload shipments depending on the size of the order and delivery location.

Midwest Material Handling regularly coordinates shipments ranging from small local deliveries to full truckload and flatbed shipments for larger rack projects. For local and in state deliveries, we have worked with the same regional freight company for nearly 30 years. Many shipments are picked up the same day they are loaded and delivered directly without transferring freight between terminals, which helps reduce handling and the potential for damage.

Because pallet racking components are long and heavy, shipping often requires careful planning to ensure materials arrive safely and efficiently.

LTL freight in particular has become more expensive in recent years as carriers add charges for oversized length (8′), lift gate service, and other accessorial requirements. Understanding how these charges work can make a significant difference in the total cost of a pallet racking project.

Unlike many suppliers and online retailers, we do not mark up freight costs. Shipping is quoted at the actual carrier rate so customers can see the true transportation cost without hidden margins.

We also encourage customers to ship freight collect when possible. This allows your company to select the carrier you prefer and pay freight charges directly, giving you full control over shipping costs and delivery coordination.

Our team can also help coordinate delivery requirements such as dock delivery, lift gate service, jobsite shipments, or limited access locations.

For many companies across Ohio and the Midwest, this transparency and experience with industrial freight logistics becomes an important advantage when sourcing pallet racking and warehouse storage equipment.

Pallet Rack Accessories and Protection

Warehouse racking systems often require additional components to improve safety, stability, and long term performance. Upright protectors, column guards, row spacers, and wire decking help reduce impact damage and support proper load distribution within pallet rack systems.

We supply a full range of pallet rack accessories designed to protect your investment and maintain safe warehouse operations. Explore our complete selection of pallet rack accessories to learn more about available protection and support components.

Layout Support, Delivery & Installation

Selecting the right racking system is only part of the process. Proper layout planning is critical for safety, efficiency, and long-term performance. We assist with rack layout design, capacity planning, and system configuration to ensure your warehouse operates as intended.

Delivery and professional installation services are available throughout Ohio and surrounding areas, helping you move from planning to operation with confidence.

Warehouse Racking FAQs

What is the most common type of warehouse racking?
Selective pallet rack is the most widely used warehouse racking system because it allows direct access to every pallet position. This flexibility makes it ideal for warehouses storing a wide range of products and SKU counts.

Should I buy new or used pallet rack?
Used pallet rack can significantly reduce project costs when compatible inventory is available. New pallet rack offers the greatest flexibility for custom layouts, expansion, and uniform system configuration.

How tall can warehouse racking systems be?
Rack height is determined by building clear height, forklift reach capability, and local fire safety regulations. Many warehouses install rack systems between 16 and 40 feet depending on facility design.
